Residential Backyard Landscape Master Plan
Santa Rosa, California
This conceptual backyard master plan was developed for a private residence in Santa Rosa, California, transforming an underutilized property into a functional outdoor environment centered around recreation, relaxation, and native landscape design. The design preserves existing mature trees while introducing a series of connected outdoor spaces that encourage year-round use.
Key features include a multi-use sport court, natural stone fire pit gathering area, meandering decomposed granite pathways, drought-tolerant planting beds, and open lawn spaces for recreation. The landscape was designed to balance active and passive uses while integrating native and climate-appropriate plant material that complements the site's natural character.
The project emphasizes sustainable landscape principles by preserving existing vegetation where possible, minimizing maintenance requirements, and creating a cohesive outdoor experience that blends recreation, gathering spaces, and natural planting into a unified residential landscape.
